Through the Green Innovation Grant Program (GIGP), EFC will disburse approximately $43 million in ARRA funds to municipalities, non-profits, and businesses for sustainable green infrastructure projects via the State’s Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds (SRF). EFC accepted applications for the GIGP through May 29, 2009.
Upon completion of the application period, an interagency panel comprised of technical experts from NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, NYS Energy Research and Development Authority, and the NYS Department of Health conducted a detailed review of all 294 applications. Each project was evaluated for construction readiness, their ability to comply with ARRA criteria, and EPA guidelines for the Green Project Reserve under the Clean Water and Drinking Water SRF.
After a very competitive and rigorous selection process, which included the review of approximately $470 million in requested grant monies, the interagency panel has selected 58 innovative and environmentally sustainable water infrastructure projects throughout the State. These projects will implement advancements in water and energy conservation, green wet weather infrastructure, and environmental innovation throughout New York State.
