DEFINITIONS:
Coastal Zone:
Hudson River - The length of the Hudson River from the Battery in Manhattan north to the federal lock in Troy, NY
Great Lakes The portions of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario that are within New York State, including the St. Lawrence Seaway/River
Marine District - The area surrounding Long Island, New York Harbor and the Hudson River south of the Battery in Manhattan
Inland Zone:
Connected - Waterways that are navigably connected to Coastal Zone water bodies. This is primarily the NYS Canal system.
Isolated - Waterways that are large enough to support boats that could contain an on-board toilet facility, but are not navigably connected to a Coastal Zone waterway. These are generally larger lakes.

Boaters: Look for the large, orange flag to assist in locating a pumpout facility.
Marinas: Fly the Flag! near your pumpout to guide boaters to facilities.
