If you operate a plastic composites facility that manufactures products with thermoset resins and/or gel coats containing hazardous air pollutants (HAP) and volatile organic compounds (VOC), your facility will be required to have a permit or registration from the DEC.  Permits and registrations help DEC document the effectiveness of air pollution control programs and verify that businesses are meeting annual emission limits and/or control requirements.  Both large and small businesses need a permit or registration before they construct or operate any equipment or processes that could cause air pollution.  Plastic composites production facilities consist of the following processes including, but not limited to:

  • open molding
  • closed molding
  • filament winding
  • pultrusion
  • equipment cleaning
