Paint spray booths emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and particulates (fine particles) such as paint solids. Dip tanks, flow coating and roller coating only VOCs. VOCs can also be emitted during paint mixing, substrate preparation, and equipment cleaning. Because of the VOCs and particulates they emit, coating operations are subject to air pollution control requirements.
